Our History
MSSCA was formed in January 1985 as “Mat-Su Children’s Services, Inc.” by a small group of community volunteers. These founders believed deeply in providing community-based, specialized services to families with young children. Starting with just the Infant Learning Program, we served 20 families with only two part-time staff members.
In 1987, we changed our name to Mat-Su Services for Children and Adults, Inc. to reflect a major expansion. We grew to meet the life-long needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, adding supported employment, residential habilitation, and respite care.
Since 1998, we have been a proud member agency of the United Way of Mat-Su, which helps us address unmet needs in our community.
Today, we continue to evolve to meet the increasing demand for services in our diverse region, ensuring that every Mat-Su resident has the support they need to thrive.
